April 2 marked not just another match for Oak Ridge High School, but a heartfelt tribute to five remarkable seniors who have shaped the tennis program into what it is today. Before the clash against Clinton High School, the atmosphere buzzed with nostalgia and excitement as parents, teammates, and staff gathered at the Jackson Square Tennis & Pickleball Facility.

Coach Joanne Bowman was visibly moved as she shared her thoughts with the crowd. "Coach and I are going to miss their laughter, exemplary sportsmanship during competition, and leadership on the practice courts," she expressed. It's clear these players are more than just athletes; they are a family, and the bond they share goes beyond the court.

“The emotional connection we build with our athletes lasts a lifetime,” Coach Bowman said. “To see them grow both on and off the court is a reward like no other.”

The night took a victorious turn as the Wildcats achieved a solid 7-2 win against the Dragons. The senior trio of Wyatt Arline, Billy Bennett, and Colin McVay were instrumental in securing three points with their singles victories.

• McVay and Arline followed suit, taking their No. 2 doubles match 8-5.
