"It made sense to start with paying homage to the legendary Nile Rodgers," she explained. "And pairing him up with EARTHGANG, who are amazing talents."

Her education in music wasn't limited to studio time or textbooks—it was lived. From studying bass lines by James Jamerson and Paul Jackson to diving deep into Prince's synthesizer experiments, ALISSIA approached every session like a student of history. And it shows.

"It's impossible—and not worth it—to try to recreate what was already created," she said. "I want to study the history of music in order to pay homage, and also find my own voice through what's already been created."

This philosophy makes her work feel timeless, even as it moves forward with intention and innovation. It's a rare gift in today's fast-paced industry.

Chasing a Signature Sound

Now, ALISSIA is finally ready to build her own sound—something that's uniquely hers. And she's not afraid to go deep into the sonic weeds to get it right.

She recently hunted down a rare vocoder that only 30 of its kind were ever made. The machine was used in classic tracks by Herbie Hancock and Daft Punk, and she managed to track one down through a connection with Anthony Marinelli, who worked on Michael Jackson's Thriller sessions.

The result? A distinctive element in her new single Can't Get Enough, which introduces a new sonic identity that feels like it's been years in the making. It's subtle but striking, and it shows how far she's come as an artist.

A New Voice in the Room

ALISSIA's journey from behind the boards to center stage is more than just a career change—it's a full-circle return to her roots. She's always been about music that speaks, not just sounds. And now, she's finally getting to tell her own story.
