On Thursday afternoon, the 4-seeded Boston College baseball team faced off against the 5-seeded Miami Hurricanes in the ACC tournament quarterfinals in Charlotte. Coming off a resounding 11-2 victory over Stanford, Miami seemed poised to build on that momentum. Unfortunately for the Eagles, it was a rough day at the ballpark as they succumbed to the Hurricanes, 8-2.

A Promising Start

The game began with a flicker of hope for BC. In the first inning, Jack Toomey showcased his talent by driving Ty Mainolfi home with an RBI double. Almost immediately afterward, Kyle Wolff stepped up to the plate and doubled in Toomey, giving the Eagles a quick 2-0 lead. As the game progressed, Miami continued to pile on the pressure. In the fourth inning, Alex Sosa added another two runs with a home run, putting the Hurricanes ahead 6-2. The Eagles' bats, previously alive, fell silent—a stark contrast to that promising start.
