Fast-forward to his fourth season, and while the results have been mixed, Tepper remains firmly convinced of Young's long-term potential.

"I think he has a lot of talent, and with the right weapons and the right situation, yeah," Tepper told reporters during a rare news conference. "It seems to bring the best out in him."

The Panthers' owner hasn't wavered in his belief even though Young is currently 14-30 as the starting quarterback and hasn't signed a long-term contract extension. What we're seeing now is not just about the numbers but about what happens when a quarterback is put under pressure and rises to meet it.

Seasonal Progress and Potential

In his third season, Young actually led Carolina to an NFC South title and ended a seven-year playoff drought. The team lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Los Angeles Rams in a game that went down to the wire, but there was clearly something special about how Young played.

Wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, who won the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year award last season, has experience now and is a proven commodity. Jalen Coker is emerging as a legitimate No. 2 receiver, and while Xavier Legette hasn't quite met expectations yet, he's still being given opportunities to prove himself.
