"We're not very deep, so that will be a challenge throughout the year is getting deeper," Braaten thinks aloud as he reflects on this year's roster. With only twelve players available from grades nine to twelve, this is the smallest team he's ever managed. Yet within this small group lies the potential for incredible breakthroughs.

"It's always a challenge... we have the second-rated schedule, and I think we made it tougher this year," said Braaten.

With the Cardinal's formidable opponents lined up, including South Prairie and Benson County, every game promises to be a test of resilience and skill. As he puts it, “You're competing against the best every night; it's the only way to sharpen your swords.”

Key Players to Watch

This season marks an evolution for the Carrington team. Among the twelve, Sienna Topp stands out. As the lone senior, she carries the weight of experience, having spent three years on the varsity team. Braaten praises her versatility, stating, "She's improved her game throughout the years and might just be the defensive anchor we need this season."

In addition to Topp, junior Harper Kollman has shown promising development. “She had some great games last year, especially defensively. She blends well offensively, bringing tools that are essential for our strategy,” Braaten adds. With depth often being the name of the game, the coaching staff looks for players who can fill multiple roles effectively.
