"I imagine Harry will keep it relatively private with Meghan and the children," Schofield told me. "Being back in Britain makes this birthday significant, but I don't expect some grand royal reunion. There is still far too much unresolved behind the scenes."

While the royal family may be eager to welcome Harry home, his relationship with King Charles III remains strained. "Harry will likely hear from his father on his birthday," Schofield said. "He will most definitely chat with his uncle, Earl Spencer, and aunts, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes."

However, experts believe the king won't offer any public recognition of Harry's return or birthday celebration. "Perhaps there will be merely a private call from" the king, noted British royal expert Hilary Fordwich. "Highly unlikely there will be any sort of public reconciliation for Harry on his birthday."

The Sussexes are reportedly planning to settle in the picturesque Cotswolds region in the English countryside, a couple of hours outside of London. This setting is fitting for a low-key celebration that emphasizes privacy and family.

"I imagine Harry will enjoy a low-key private birthday affair. It will be family first," said British broadcaster and photographer Helena Chard. "Maybe the school run in the morning to the co-ed prep school with Archie and Lilibet, then family time with Meghan, the children and you never know Doria [Ragland, Markle's mother] may rear her head. Maybe a small gathering of old friends?"

Even though Harry and Meghan are no longer official members of the royal family, they still maintain strong ties to their children's upbringing. Chard added, "Any public recognition would likely come from Markle's social media. As per the norm, it will not be via Buckingham Palace."

While some within the royal family seem more welcoming to Harry, others remain cautious about his return. Grant Harrold, King Charles' former royal butler, suggested that the king is still processing the events surrounding Harry's departure and the subsequent drama.

"I do expect the King will exchange cards and gifts with Harry, despite what is going on," Harrold added. "The King is a kind man, and when it comes to birthdays and celebrations he is quite strict on marking the occasion."

However, even this gesture might be limited. "Harry and King Charles' personal relationship is said to be thawing. I'm sure his father will give a private call to his 'dear boy,'" Chard continued.

While Harry's return to Britain may not bring immediate reconciliation, it does mark a significant moment in the evolving narrative of his life. Experts suggest that while the road ahead remains uncertain, there is hope for a more peaceful future.

"At 42, Harry should choose peace," Chard said. "Hopefully the ebullient Prince Harry will be back in the not so distant future."
