🏀 Game of the Night - North Kingstown vs. Portsmouth

In a matchup that had it all, the North Kingstown girls basketball team faced off against Portsmouth in a game that kept fans on the edge of their seats. The Skippers, led by sharp-shooting Shea Kalin, initially built a solid lead, only to find themselves in a nail-biting finish. Kalin's prowess came to the forefront when she sank a crucial free throw with just four seconds left, sealing a 40-39 victory.

The game began as a defensive struggle, with Portsmouth narrowly leading 7-5 after the first quarter. However, North Kingstown turned things around in the third quarter, showcasing a brilliant shooting spree that included six 3-pointers. Kalin finished with 18 points, five of which came from beyond the arc, while fellow teammate Maya Bigelli added 15 points.

"It was a rollercoaster of emotions, but I'm proud of how we fought back to secure the win," Kalin said after the match.

For Portsmouth, Gyselle Mairs and Stella Orr were standout performers, scoring 18 and 7 points, respectively. Despite the loss, their spirit and tenacity were commendable.

🏀 Girls Basketball - Division I Updates

Classical 54, Pawtucket 47

The Purple from Classical notched a comeback victory, overcoming a halftime deficit thanks to a strong second-half performance that stifled Pawtucket's offensive efforts.

Despite a slow start, Classical's defense tightened, limiting Pawtucket to only nine points in the third quarter. Daniella Jimenez played a crucial role, leading her team with 17 points, including multiple critical buckets in the closing stages.

Ponaganset 48, Cranston West 41

Ponaganset demonstrated its defensive strengths by holding Cranston West to just a single point in the third quarter, turning an eight-point deficit into a hard-fought win.

Javiana Stec was the offensive standout for the Chieftains, contributing 14 points to the victory.

St. Raphael 54, Juanita Sanchez 27

The Saints showcased a balanced attack as 11 players scored. Strong defensive plays allowed them to dominate throughout the game, leading to a decisive victory.

Portsmouth 73, Cranston East 53

In what could only be described as an offensive explosion, Portsmouth's trio of Adam Conheeny, Jack Casey, and Liam Casey combined for 11 three-pointers, powering them to a convincing win.

Jack Casey stood out, netting a season-high 30 points, and it was clear that the Thunderbolts struggled to keep pace with the relentless shooting of the Patriots.

East Greenwich 53, Johnston 48

In a thrilling comeback, East Greenwich bounced back from a difficult night, rallying in the fourth quarter to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Their defense finally found its rhythm, contributing significantly to the win.

Lincoln School 64, Hope 12

Reign Whiteing was unstoppable in the paint, scoring 22 points as the Lynx restricted Hope to single digits in all four quarters. It was an impressive display of dominance.
