The Israeli human rights organization B'Tselem has published a damning report titled The Elimination Project, which outlines how Israel is executing an accelerated campaign to erase the Palestinian presence from the occupied West Bank. This is not merely a series of violent incidents; it is an orchestrated political strategy designed to eliminate Palestinian collective life.

"What Palestinians are living through in the West Bank is not a series of separate incidents. It is a single political project that reaches into every part of life," said B'Tselem executive director Yuli Novak.

This strategy isn't new, but it has entered a new phase—particularly since October 2023, following the Hamas-led attack on southern Israel. What began as a policy framework rooted in settler colonialism has now become an active and brutal campaign of dehumanization.

Five Interconnected Mechanisms

B'Tselem's report identifies five interconnected mechanisms through which Israel is advancing this project, based on over 2,000 testimonies from Palestinians. These are not isolated actions—they form a coordinated assault on Palestinian life.

• Violence and Coercion: The Israeli military and armed settler militias are using deadly force to terrorize and displace Palestinians.
• Land Seizure and Displacement: Thousands of dunams of land have been taken from Palestinians, with entire communities forcibly removed.
• Movement Restrictions: Over 900 checkpoints and roadblocks severely restrict the movement of people and goods.
• Economic Suppression: The West Bank's economy is choking under military control and systematic resource deprivation.
• Criminalization of Resistance: Protests, journalism, and political organizing are criminalized through arrests and intimidation.

Massacre by Numbers

The evidence points to a systematic use of violence as the primary tool for subjugation. Between October 2023 and September 2026, Israeli forces killed at least 1,107 Palestinians in military operations across the West Bank. These are not just casualties—they are part of a calculated effort to instill fear and dismantle social cohesion.

Moreover, the report details how Israeli settlers, supported by state actors, have driven over 75 communities from their homes. In total, more than 1,070,000 dunams—equivalent to about 18% of the West Bank—have been seized under this regime.

But it's not just land that is being taken—it's the very foundation of Palestinian life. Refugee camps in the north have been systematically destabilized, with nearly 33,000 residents forcibly displaced.

Restriction and Suppression

Israel has imposed a network of movement restrictions that paralyze the region. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs documented more than 900 obstacles—roadblocks, checkpoints, and unmanned barriers—that have effectively choked Palestinian mobility.

Global Complicity

I have seen the data, heard the testimonies, and followed the pattern. What we're witnessing today is more than just a conflict—it's a deliberate campaign of genocide under the guise of security. B'Tselem rightly calls on the international community to stop treating Israel's violations as isolated incidents.

"Governments cannot condemn these crimes while granting Israel the impunity to continue," said Novak.
