Sandusky Run for Life Returns with Exciting New Youth Category

Welcome Back to the Sandusky Run for Life

This June, the vibrant community of Sandusky will once again come together for the 8th annual Sandusky Run for Life. Scheduled for June 27, the event promises to be an exhilarating day for families and fitness enthusiasts alike. With both a 5K and a 1-mile run/walk, along with a newly introduced youth category, this year's race is designed to include individuals of all ages.

Event Details

Organized by Right to Life of Sanilac, the run will take place on the beautiful Diamond Trail as part of the Sandusky Thumb Festival. The races will officially kick off at 8 a.m., and participants are encouraged to arrive early, as registration and packet pickup will start at 7 a.m. under the pavilion along the trail.

New Youth Category

One exciting addition this year is the introduction of a youth category for participants aged 17 and younger. For just $10, young runners can take part in the mile run or walk, with awards for the top three finishers in both boys and girls divisions. This initiative aims to promote fitness and a sense of community from an early age.

“We are thrilled to enhance our event with a youth category this year,” says Amy Roggenbuck, the event organizer. “It's a wonderful opportunity for young people to engage in physical activity and be part of a cause that matters.”

Registration and Costs

For adults wishing to participate in the 5K or the 1-mile events, the registration fee is $25 per person until May 31. Post that date, the fee will rise to $30, with same-day registrations available for $35. Participants can ensure their spot and secure an event T-shirt by registering before June 22, although supplies cannot be guaranteed for late entries.

Awards and Recognition

Awards will be handed out not just for the youth category but also for the adult categories. First through third place will receive recognition in age groups for the 5K run, while the top three male and female finishers in both the 1-mile and 5K walking events will also receive awards. All participants can look forward to an array of goodies, including:

• Official timing

Course Logistics

The course layout promises to be engaging, with the 1-mile event entirely on the Diamond Trail, while the 5K will weave through city streets and gravel roads to finish back at the trail. Participants are encouraged to be prepared for any weather, as the race will proceed rain or shine. Parking will be available at the nearby Maple Valley Elementary School and at the Diamond Trail, with the added convenience of new restroom facilities on site.
