The series landed five wins during the second night of the ceremony—marking a historic achievement for a canceled show. In fact, it's now the most Emmy wins ever received by a series that was canceled after its debut season.

The award recognition began with the show's first win: stunt performance. But it didn't stop there. "It felt like when you're at a softball game for your kids, and you just want them to get hits. Then they start to get hits, so you start to feel good about it," said co-creator Oren Uziel.

Uziel emphasized that the show's structure was intentional: a self-contained narrative designed to conclude with its first season. "We told a story, and it felt like a long movie," he explained. The show was set in 1930s New York but filmed in Los Angeles, allowing for a gritty noir atmosphere that suited the genre's themes.

Despite the cancellation, Uziel is philosophical about the outcome. "Making this show was the best experience of my professional life," he said. "We all got to make exactly what we set out to make."

The Emotional Weight of Closure

Although the Emmy wins were joyous, they came at a challenging moment—just days after the news that Prime Video would not be moving forward with Season 2. "I thought it was going to be disappointing timing at first," Uziel admitted. "But the truth is, it became kind of a big celebration of what we accomplished together."

What Could Have Been

If the show had continued, Uziel imagined a second season with Ben Reilly (played by Nicolas Cage) taking on a new case. "There are so many L.A. noirs we could have dove into," he said. The idea of shifting the setting to Los Angeles was appealing, and it would have allowed for an exploration of different eras, including the backdrop of World War II.

"L.A. for L.A., how great would that be?" Uziel mused. "It's about making something that the fans of Spider-Man and noir would love."

Looking Ahead: A New Chapter?

While Uziel won't be involved in any future projects tied to the Sony Spider-Man Universe, he's eager to work with his crew again. "It's finding something fun and juicy and unexpected and singular to work with this crew on again," he said. "What happened on Sunday [with the Emmy wins] is not a huge surprise because they're all so good at what they do."

Uziel and Cage are both open to returning for another project together, though they recognize that Spider-Noir has reached its conclusion. "We've talked a bit and we feel the same way," Uziel noted. "It's sad to not do this again, but we also got to do exactly what we set out to do."

Legacy in the Eyes of Fans

For fans of the show, Uziel encourages them to revisit Season 1—perhaps even watching it in black and white for a different experience. "It was about making something that the fans of Spider-Man and noir would love," he said. "So I'm deeply appreciative."

As Prime Video and Sony continue to explore projects within the Spider-Man universe, Uziel is optimistic about future possibilities. "I would always love to advise and take part because I loved it," he said.
