"A typical household in the greater Belfast and west gas network areas with a credit meter will see their annual gas bill decrease by £80," says SSE Airtricity. This translates to a monthly saving of £6.65 based on average consumption.

The gas provider attributes this adjustment to the differences between forecasted and actual costs associated with delivering gas to customers across Northern Ireland.

The Utility Regulator also welcomed this development, attributing it to a fall in wholesale gas costs. Leigh Greer, head of market regulation at the Utility Regulator, emphasized the ongoing monitoring of regulated tariffs to ensure that any further reductions are reflected in customer bills.

"While this is good news for consumers, we recognize that many households and businesses are still struggling," Greer added. He pointed out that assistance is available for those concerned about energy payments.
