"Somehow it worked. I was overjoyed that I would get to spend my senior season with her,"

"Gradee has always motivated me to be better,"

she says. And indeed, the younger Van Gilder has made strides in her debut season on the varsity roster, pushing herself with new skills amidst all her nervousness and excitement.

"My first competition I was a bit nervous but I then realized that it doesn't matter how I did as long as I was proud of myself and tried my hardest," Gradee reflected, showcasing the resilience that defines this season for both of them.

Sutton indicates significant personal growth as well, consistently ranking high in various events. She has reached the ranks with an average of 36.283 in the all-around competition.

"This season, I wanted to do better than last year... I set these goals because I know what I am capable of,"

she stated, ever the determined competitor.

Both sisters have also encountered their fair share of obstacles. Sutton acknowledged a mental block on the uneven bars that she's now overcome, emerging stronger through her challenges.

"I finally feel back in my groove, and am hoping everything goes up from here,"

she said, embodying the tenacity and spirit that defines many athletes when the pressure mounts.

Encouragement Through Competition

From flipping Tsukaharas to mastering beam routines, Sutton also supports Gradee in their unique competition dynamics. They push each other not only to achieve but to surpass their own limitations.

"If we are working on new skills to see who can get the skill first, we really push each other to be better,"

Gradee mentioned, revealing the special synergy that exists between them.
